Congratulations!!! Our 5th grader Marwan Arafa has qualified to compete in the state level competition of National Geographic Bee

 

We feel proud to announce that 2 of our 5th graders won in Regional Science fair held in Durham on the 11th of February. Amir Abdelbaqi will be going for state competition now. Congratulationd to Amir and Mohammad Yasin.We also want to Congratulate Marwan Arafah as the School champion for Geography Bee and Noor Ibrahim for getting second place in Spelling Bee.

MAP Tests next week

Alhamdulillah we had a great start, students are adjusting well in the first week of school. From Monday, the 29th we will have our beginning of Year MAP tests.

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOl. First day for students will be on Monday, the 22nd of August. Students will assemble in the gym between 7:30-7:45 A.M

Congratulations to Sumayya Baloch for being the runners up for this year’s School Geo Bee Competition. We will also like to congratulate all the other participants for their hard work.

Tuesday, the 9th of February will be Early release for students. Parent conferences will be from 2-4 P.M.

School wide Geography Bee finals will be on Monday between 2:00–3:30 P.M

5th grade girls will be going to Meredith College for a service learning project on Monday, the first of February.

100th day of School and 99 names of Allah contest will be on Tuesday during their Islamic studies periods.

Due to inclement weather school will be closed Friday, the 22nd of January. Students should work on the given assignments on study island as well as review the 99 Names of Allah for the 100th Day celebrations.

Students will have fun filled activities next week as it is our School Choice Week.

1st quarter report cards went home on Friday, please review them with your child. Sign the envelopes and return them back to school. If you didn’t sign up for class Dojo yet, please do so. It will help you stay connected with your child’s daily activities at school.

Monday, the 26th is Teacher Work Day, no school for students.

Our theme for the silent auction basket is “movie night”. This will be auctioned during the first Al-Iman Alumni Dinner on the 30th. Your involvement for this cause will be highly appreciated, please send the related items to the homeroom teacher.

Also remember to send cans and other non-perishable food items which are being collected till the end of this month to help the needy families in our community.

Summer Resources

We thank Allah (SWT) for helping us complete this academic year. We hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer. Please continue practice and review with them the basic skills for Reading and Math. Here are some ways you can enhance your child’s abilities over the summer.

Building Reading and Language Arts Skills:

  • To develop listening and comprehension skills, let your child read every day for at least 30 minutes.
  • Read chapter books/ science fictions then summarize them in their own word

Building Math Skills:

  • It is recommended to have hands-on involvement better than regular paper/pencil activities.
  • Review addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts on a daily basis.

As our 5th graders are getting ready for End of Year activities and preparing for EOG exams, we request all the parents to make sure your child is in school every single day and take things seriously.

Alhamdulillah our students performed very well in their end of year MAP tests. Results will be sent home as soon as we get them.

 

WEEK Of 04/20/2015

4th Quarter Interims are going home today, please review them with your child.

MAP TEST

Insha Allah our 5th graders will take their End of Year MAP Tests during the week of April 20th. Please make sure your child had rested well over the week end and have healthy break fast every morning. This will surely help stay focused during test.

EARTH DAY

April 22nd is Earth Day, students will do few fun activities along with planting some vegetables in our school garden.

  • Tuesday: Connection through lunch,Students in the upper elementary will bring their own lunch but they will go to the park and have lunch together with 3rd and 4th graders.

  • Thursday: Lunch Day,lunch will be provided.

Spring Break Week of 03/23/2015

Spring Break will be the week of March 23rd. Alhamdulillah what a perfect weather to enjoy with family and friends.

Take out some time to finish your assignments on “Ten Marks” and read books about “Eco System” on Truflix. These books are all AR books and you can test on them after Spring Break IA.

Al Iman’s Annual Fund Raising Dinner will be on Saturday, the 14th. Parents and family members are encouraged to support the school by attending this event. Tickets are still available to buy.

Field Trip Update/ 99 Names of Allah Awards Ceremony

Alhamdulillah all our students had a great time at defy Gravity today. Parents are invited to attend the 99 names of Allah Awards Ceremony at 2:00 P.M.

Math Home work for 03/04/2015: students should work on Study Island(Dividing Fractions) and also practice on Ten Marks for at least 15 minutes.

As you all know, we have a field trip to Defy Gravity scheduled for tomorrow – Wednesday February 25th. Defy Gravity is closed today due to the weather so, every thing below is tentative pending their approval.
On Wednesday February 25th if school is..
Delayed: The field trip will still take place. We will be leaving promptly at 10:00 AM so, it is imperative that the children get to school early. Please plan to be at the school by 9:30 AM. We will stick to the original plans of going to Defy Gravity and then lunch at Triangle Town Center.

Alhamdulillah, thanks to our parents’ generosity and students hard work, we were able to pack 10,000 meals for “Stop Hunger Now” Project.

5th grade Math/ Science fair presentations for parents will be on the 17th of December in the gym @11:00 A.M

The projects and the written drafts are due on Monday, and the in class presentations will be on Monday and Tuesday IA.

In class spelling Bee will be held during Language Arts Period on Tuesday. Three finalists from each class will take part in School wide competition.

Photo retakes and Sports Team photos will be taken on Monday, the 15th.

Our “Muslim Heritage” project was a huge success. We thank all the parents who showed up for the presentation.
